Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the only superstar to have transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream and become a pop icon worldwide. Swift has thrown off her country roots as if she was shedding skins for second purposes, and has proven herself to be one of the smartest pop singer/songwriter of her time. She has the ability to take the zeitgeist of today and make it her own. Swift's early songs, including her neo song in tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. However, her album Fearless revealed a songwriter who was beginning to discover herself, and finding a large audience. Fearless went on to become a global hit and not just in North America (where it earned six times platinum for the Top Ten Hits Love Story as well as "You Belong with Me") as well as in Canada Australia, the U.K. and many other countries. Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago, consolidated her prior popularity and launched Swift into the spotlight. The next three albums she released, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017), her popularity increased and she became part of the world of pop music with a clear sense of where she belonged. When she reduced her sound to the stripped-down versions of 2020, folklore, and Evermore, she still remained on top. It was a position that was confirmed by re-recordings from her past catalog as in Midnights, her synth-heavy chart-topping 2022 album.
